Hydrogen Purification through a Highly Stable Dual?Phase Oxygen?Permeable Membrane

چکیده
Using oxygen permeable membranes (OPMs) to upgrade low-purity hydrogen is a promising concept for high-purity H2 production. At high temperatures, water dissociates into and oxygen. The permeates through OPM oxidizes in waste stream on the other side of membrane. Pure can be obtained water-splitting after condensation. However, existing Co- Fe-based OPMs are chemically instable as result over-reduction Co Fe ions under reducing atmospheres. Herein, dual-phase membrane Ce0.9Pr0.1O2??-Pr0.1Sr0.9Mg0.1Ti0.9O3?? (CPO-PSM-Ti) with excellent chemical stability mixed ionic-electronic conductivity atmospheres was developed purification. An acceptable production rate 0.52 mL min?1 cm?2 achieved at 940 °C. No obvious degradation during 180 h operation indicates robust CPO-PSM-Ti proven give prospective advantages over upgrading hydrogen.

Porous silicene as a hydrogen purification membrane.
We investigated theoretically the hydrogen permeability and selectivity of a porous silicene membrane via first-principles calculations. The subnanometer pores of the silicene membrane are designed as divacancy defects with octagonal and pentagonal rings (585-divacancy). The porous silicene exhibits high selectivity comparable with graphene-based membranes for hydrogen over various gas molecule...
متن کاملSurface segregation in a polycrystalline Pd70Cu30 alloy hydrogen purification membrane
X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and low energy ion scattering spectroscopy (LEISS) have been used to study the effects of various surface preparations and thermal treatments on the composition of the near-surface region ( 7 atomic layers) and the topmost atomic layer of a polycrystalline Pd70Cu30 alloy. Palladium enrichment (relative to the bulk composition) is observed in the XPS-access...
متن کاملA Highly Hydrogen Permeable Silica Membrane Supported on Porous Alumina
In previous chapters, the synthesis of a highly hydrogen selective membrane formed by the deposition of a silica layer on top of a Vycor glass substrate was discussed. In this chapter, the preparation of a composite membrane using a porous alumina support is described. This membrane showed a high hydrogen permeance of the order of 10 mol m s Pa at 873 K with selectivity of hydrogen over CH4, CO...
متن کاملSeparation of Hydrogen Isotopes ELECTROLYTIC MIGRATION THROUGH A PALLADIUM MEMBRANE
With the increasing importance of “ heavy water” as a moderator in nuclear reactors there arises a pressing need for a more efficient method of separating hydrogen isotopes. In a report by 0. N. Salmon to the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission (AEC Research and Development Report KAPL 1272) a process is described which aims to improve the method of separation by the electrolysis of water. This proce...
متن کاملSelective hydrogen purification through graphdiyne under ambient temperature and pressure.
Graphdiyne, a recently synthesized one-atom-thick carbon allotrope, is atomistically porous - characterized by a regular "nanomesh"- and suggests application as a separation membrane for hydrogen purification. Here we report a full atomistic reactive molecular dynamics investigation to determine the selective diffusion properties of hydrogen (H(2)) amongst carbon monoxide (CO) and methane (CH(4...
